In 2003, Hugh Jackman had starred in X-Men and the sequel, X2, and was well on his way to awesomeness. And that’s when he decided to do an abrupt change and do a 180 back to his roots of playing on Boardway in, The Boy From Oz.

He had the chance once before to be in the play but passed, trying to be uber-strategical with his career and make the “right moves.” But in the end, he regretted passing on the role.

There is a lot to unpack and learn from the Jackman, dubbed Nicest Guy in Hollywood, with the above story serving as a starting point for our exploration of Jackman’s greatness.

Conviction and Listening to Your Heart

Listening to Jackman reflect upon that time period, I love how he captures the sentiment that it’s ok to fail when it’s in the pursuit of our passion. He’s instilled in himself the belief that as long as you’re pursuing what is right, the outcome doesn’t matter. Or rather, the outcome is something we can live with and perhaps even be proud of.
